Web Image Processing Environment

Welcome to WIPECENTRAL !

WIPECENTRAL is ACT's gateway to large volumes of historical or dynamical geo-spatial data located at our facility or over a distributed number of servers in the WWW.

WIPECENTRAL relies in the use of ACT's WWW Image Processing Environment (WIPE).   The WIPE architecture  is a proven architecture used in support of DOD, NOAA, NASA,  NATO, ....

Key highlights of the architecture are:

  • Flexible WEB based GIS and Image Processing Functionality

  • Facilitates Efficient Use of Available Bandwidth

  • Automatic Assimilation and Processing of Geo-Spatial Data

  • Rapid/Interactive Discovery, Fusion, and Distribution of Data

  • Easy Incorporation of new data formats for ingestion and delivery

  • Extensible via user provided algorithms and applications

  • Configurable from a single machine to a cluster of machines

  • Simple Client Requirement ==> standard web browser!

For additional information download WIPE's  overview document.

First time users:

  1. To use WIPE applet you need to:

+ Install WIPE's JAVA Applet support files. (swing JAVA classes)
                              OR
+Download the SUN JAVA Runtime Environment

  2. Connect to a public access WIPE server, e.g.
    WIPE server at NOAA's NCDDC

METOC Flight Planning Tool

  • Description: The METOC Flight Planning Tool (MFPT) is a web based application which works in conjunction with the SPAWAR METCAST server.  It provides sensor fusion of many data sources, e.g. GOES-IR, Model Runs (COAMPS, NOGAPS, Flight Level, ...), DTED, DBDB, ...   The MFPT was demonstrated at the CINC's 2000 Technology Conference and the Joint Warfighter Interoperability Demonstration (JWID 2000)

  • METOC Products:

  • Documents:  Power Point Brief Presentation (3Mbytes)

NATO/SACLANT Center

  • Description: This server has been used to support NATO's Rapid Environmental Assessment (REA) exercises.  It is also used at SACLANT Center's Data Fusion Center.

  NOAA

  • Description: The NOAA WIPE is being used to support the Coast Watch - Alaska SAR Demo.  These WIPE servers collect and server close to real time data from various space-based and ground-based sensors in addition to modeled wind vector data.   This is done in support of the  .
