The
NEMO program was established as a cooperative program between the Navy (ONR
& NRL) and Industry to develop a space based Hyperspectral
Remote Sensing Satellite to meet Navy requirements in the
littoral zone. NEMO's goal
was to address critical needs of the Navy,
scientific, and commercial communities for high spatial and
spectral resolution remote sensing data. These areas included
bathymetry, water clarity, currents, oil slicks, bottom type,
atmospheric visibility, tides, bioluminescence, beach characterization,
underwater hazards, vertical atmospheric water vapor profiles,
and detection and mapping of sub-visible cirrus.
The
NEMO project selected ACT as the commercial operations center
to provide both the Naval and commercial communities easy
and timely access to data. ACT was responsible for integration
and operation of the Image Processing Center (IPC). THE IPC
will perform the image quick-look, data processing, and data
archive.
